Each season is identified with a certain stage in life, and that stage of life is honored and celebrated in its respective season. Just as all circles, the Wheel of the Year has no beginning and no end.
The Wheel of the Year starts with the sun being born at Winter Solstice at Samhain (Halloween) and follows the changing of the seasons, the growing and fading of light, the solstices and equinoxes right through the annual transition that the sun takes until Winter Solstice is reached once more.
Then the Wheel returns to the beginning emphasizing our intricate connection to nature.

The Witches Calendar has 13 Full Moon Festivals (12-13 Full Moons yearly) and 8 Sabbats. Sabbats are only half of the ritual year and are sun (solar) rituals which mark the point of the Sun's annual cycle and Esbats are Full Moon celebrations.
There are eight Sacred Witches Sabbats yearly which are based on the changes in our seasons which hark back to ancient traditional harvest dates.

MAGICK FOR THE NEW WITCH & WICCAN by Lady Raven Avalon
In the quick swift paced life of modern times the new seeker to the Path of The Wise can be easily seduced by the promise of power however, in taking this route, you will not understand that spiritual power is something quite different. If you are new to Magick there are basic codes of conduct and ethics in spell casting. Magick is very powerful, deeply spiritual, highly sacred and very serious. Everything in the universe is connected and your intent and intensity are the cornerstones of Magick because no spell can be cast without them.
With all the misinformation, books, internet sites, free spells sites etc.,. it seems to me that modern day seekers to the craft read a book, look up sites that charge money and promise you anything you wish, look up pagan sites and ZAPPPPP; overnight they are self initiated Wiccans or Witches. This is sad as we all know it takes dedication and time to find and know thyself.
If a newcomer is to succeed it takes a lot of hard work, time and, in most cases, a lifetime of challenges to succeed and really understand oneself. Magickal training is not an overnight sensation and it takes time, willingness and training to reach and to understand the Path of the Wise. Within this Magickal life, self awareness is paramount if one is to succeed. This takes time, dedication and above all, hard work. The most important parts of a spell is your belief in the spell and the belief in your own Magickal ability, as well as the strength and mastery of your own energy.
Over the past few years I have noticed a sudden interest of new people becoming seriously interested in the Craft and I feel a great responsibility towards those who are seeking their calling. I have consolidated my knowledge and life experiences within this book aimed at the new seeker which will hopefully help them to find their true path. I love to teach hands on and through the written word but more than this, I enjoy awakening the spark deep within beginners and awaken the sleeper. This book has been written for those who have begun to awaken, finding themselves in a semi-twilight world, ready to awaken on so many different levels of mystery. I offer inspiration, Experience and practical knowledge of the many paths on the Craft of the Wise.
I am a High Priestess of a Coven and a Witch. I have been studying the craft of the wise for over 45 years and have found that every single day brings a new form of learning or a new challenge.
